Powerpop and punk lovers alike, meet your new favorite band. This Years Fashion, a six-piece force hailing from the lone star state, is redefining powerpop, and in doing so is rising as one of the sickest bands to date. Producing a sound that can only be described as powerpop/punk at its finest, This Year’s Fashion is anything but a passing trend.
The band’s first release, entitled “Enough to Get You Through The Night” (April 2009), is a blend of fast breakdowns and addictive melodies that will leave you unable to stand still. Though you probably won’t be able to hit some of the impressive notes belted out by the band’s lead singer, it will be impossible for you to keep yourself from at least trying. Don’t worry punk fans. This Years Fashion doesn’t cater to powerpop fans alone. The band’s EP encourages plenty of movement outside of simply bobbing your head. The energy generated by TYF is contagious, and it never falters, from their second song “Oh, I Know All About You” through the album’s closer, “We Hit the Road Tonight”. As said in my favorite track, “All you’ve got to do is shake your hips”. With the creativity level of This Years Fashion already at a colossal level, its almost impossible not to.
Luckily for you (and everyone else across the nation), This Years Fashion will be doing a massive amount of touring in 2010, so be sure to look out for a show near you. The band is currently up for an MTVu Woodie Award, so you can head over to https://myspace.com/thisyearsfashionmusic for more details on how to help them out. They’re a great set of dudes, and they love communication with their extensive fan base, so show them some love. You can follow the band at twitter.com/wearetyf, and of course don’t forget to hit up iTunes for “Enough To Get You Through The Night”. You’ll thank me later.

Interview between Matt Epstein (FYS) and This Years Fashion
Hey guys, what’s new?
Alot! We have a brand new spankin layout up and we’re scheduled to do many things till the end of the year and are touring starting next year.
Ya’ll are from the Big Tex(except for Bryan) What Texan do you guys
look up to the most?
Well, being that we’re from Texas, we HAVE to give it up to Eva Longoria. She’s from our hometown.
Did you know incest was legal in Alabama? If ya’ll lived in Alabama
what relative would you marry?
No comment. Ask Scotty why! Sorry dude <3
The name This Year’s Fashion sounds like it has a story behind it. Is there?
Yes! We came up with the name as soon as we started the band. We all bascially came to a conclusion that alot of bands play music for the “image.” If that’s what they’re going for, then cool but that’s not us. We love playing shows and spreading our band moto around. We rep E.L.E. It means Everybody Love Everybody. Everybody is more then welcome to spread the love with us. In fact, we condone it.
What band has influenced each member the most?
Scotty - All Time Low
Leo - The Chariot
Ricky and Chris - New Found Glory
Marcus - Beach Boys
and Bryan - probably Johnny Cash
I heard a rumor TYF has new tunes. When can fans expect to hear the new stuff?
YES! We’re so stoked to go get them recorded pressed and plastered! We’re scheduled to go in the studio March 2010 with Tom from A Day To Remember so hopefully that will all work out!
What website is most visted on ya’lls computer?
A couple actually. First and foremost the obvious, myspace, twitter, purevolume, facebook and many more. It’s basically a full time job keeping up with everything and we do as much as possible to stay in touch with our fans.
What are your individual music guilty pleasures?
Justin Timberlake.
How do you feel about myspace, twitter, etc and its impact on your success so far?
Without it I have no idea where we’d be at this point in time. It has definately impacted our fan base and is responsible to have fans outside of our hometown besides touring.
Would you guys ever cover “Party in the USA”?
Probably. I think we’re leaning towards a song from Taylor Swift. I’m not telling just yet what song….
Why should somebody come out to a TYF show?
Why shouldn’t you. No matter 3 or 300 people, we’re gonna get everyone involved. Our live performance is bar none and to prove it, just see us when we hit the road. We won’t let you down. We promise.
Also, if you can visit our myspace at www.myspace.com/thisyearsfashionmusic and order our just released E.P. entitled “Enough to Get You Through The Night” on iTunes. Thank you all and hope to see you on the road.
